- Hi,
- My college has just beefed up its security and now requires passive ftp to
- access remote sites. The ws_ftp does not support it and neither does QVT.
- Does anyone know of such a program?
- Thanks

- Subject: Question about Trumpet Slip and ethernet
-
-
- How do I set up trumpet slip at the office so that I can dial into
- it from another site and get on the company tcp/ip net?
-
- The computer that will be accepting my connection will be running
- trumpet winsock set up for slip mode. But if this is the case,
- then it is not going through ethernet. Which means, it doesn't
- have access to the rest of the tcp/ip network at the office.
-
- Are there any solutions?
-
- I guess I'm looking for RAS but for TCP/IP

-
- The Divide by 0 error in Telnet is due to Chameleon's ravenous appetite
- for lower memory. Chameleon allocates large blocks of memory in the
- first 1MB. When that area is exhausted, Telnet gives the divide by 0
- error. You should try to have as much conventional memory as possible
- available before starting Windows.
-
- For example, I have a memory monitor which shows how much lower memory
- is available. It currently shows 68,256 bytes total and 19,360 bytes
- in the largest block. I will now go off and start Telnet.
-
- [Charles starts Telnet]
-
- The monitor now shows 18,592 total lower memory and 5,408 in the largest
- block. Telnet grabbed 50K of lower memory.Terminating Telnet brough the
- numbers back to normal. To me, this use of lower memory is Chameleon's
- biggest fault. The first 1MB is a critical Windows resource. When it is
- gone, you start getting "not enough memory to run application" even
- though you have lots of extended memory and lots of system resources.

- Subject: increase font size for xwindemo ??
-
-
- I have xwin installed on PC running trumpet winsock. I got the xwindow
- showed up, but increadibly small. I could hardly read from the xterminal.
- I have snooped around for for answer and gave up. I even tried to make
- new fonts.dir for the xwin to use without success. The mkfontdir.exe came
- with xwindemo complaint that my *.fon were invalid. It seemed to me that
- the font file has to be converted from BDF file format. I have no idea to
- what BDF file is and where to get them. I am even not sure if this is the
- problem, or there is some command in xterm to increase the font size.
- If some kind soul knew how fix the problem, please email. I would greatly
- appreciate any pointers. THANKS......

-
- NetDDE is possible over TCP/IP. Wfwg NetDDE is written by Wonderware Corp,
- in Irvine, California. Wonderware has additional enhancements to NetDDE
- that Microsoft's Wfwg doesn't have, such as NetDDE over serial ports,
- modem, TCP/IP, DecNET, connectivity to Vax anx Unix (even over Internet!)
- as well as the standard NetBIOS interface. Wonderware's NetDDE also doesn't
- require Windows for Workgroups and works fine with Windows 3.1.

- Yes, I also have trouble running Mosaic but I don't think the
- problem is caused by winsock.dll. PC-NFS 5.0 doesn't support DNS (next
- version may). Therefore we have problems of getting ip-address of
- those servers we want to connect to! Any idea? thanks, too.
